App Review Delay

We had submitted app for review 3 weeks ago. Published guideline for the review was 2 weeks. But even after 3 weeks, there is no reviewer assigned. Is it normal for reviewer not be assigned for 3 weeks?

Hi @trackgenie

yes that is normal. Think about it, a lot more apps are submitted weekly, because with AI, you can make them faster. Saw this tweet

Thanks, we have done the due diligence as per the recommendations. it just difficult to manage expectations when I don’t have any ETA.

It was encouraging to see Shopify integration with Lovable. I can see that there are would be more Apps being submitted due to AI. I would expect Shopify to use AI to expedite the reviews as well.

Shopify Apps

Hello there,

It’s normal to wait more than 2 weeks as said by shopify. As Shopify app review team getting a lot of submissions to review, that’s why they unable to do this process very fast.

In fact, my shopify app reviewed after 3-4 weeks later. I get email from Shopify support to do some corrections in my app.

So, waiting way longer for completion of reviewing of the app is totally common.

Hi there @trackgenie yes, a 3 week review period is normal so there’s no need to panic (funny how I just finished replying to a post based on this some minutes ago:joy:)
You can provide your submission details and check in with Shopify support on it

We have been waiting over 4 weeks without a reviewer assigned.

yep, 5 weeks here and no reviewer assigned yet!

Just cleared two review cycles on StaffHub — about 4 weeks between first rejection and approval (happy to compare notes if useful).

Biggest lesson for me: the showstopper on our first review was a 500 error on install that only happened in the reviewer’s environment, not ours. Turned out to be a Node.js module import that worked fine locally but was incompatible with our serverless hosting. Reviewer kept hitting it, we kept “fixing” it and resubmitting without reproducing it. What finally cracked it was deploying to a truly clean environment ourselves (not our dev store, not a cached build) before resubmit.

The initial wait to get a reviewer assigned is out of our hands — matches the 3-4 week figure others are reporting here.

So less a shortcut, more a warning: if your app has any server-side install step, reproduce the review path in an environment as close to theirs as possible before each resubmit. That’s the thing that would’ve saved me round 2.

Apparently, the new AI application check that Shopify introduced is supposed to help with queue times. Hopefully that is the case, as 4+ weeks is quite a while. We also submitted our application for review and every automatic check came back green immediately, but we will have to see how long does it take for the final human review.
