Bug: Manual Payment Method - Order changes to default currency

I added a “manual payment method” to my store for customers who place large orders where shipping can’t be calculated. My default currency is Canadian and if my customer is outside of Canada my store is in USD.

When I get international orders where the user selects the manual payment method, everything is converted into CAD.

To fix this, I just have to duplicate the order and it goes back to USD (it warns me first that all items have been modified or something like that). I’m not sure what the customer is seeing at checkout but I know they’re seeing Canadian prices in the confirmation email, which is annoying.

Would be great if this could be fixed.

Can I get some acknowledgement that this has been reported as a bug?

I can provide additional info about the message that comes up when you duplicate the order.

Since this order was created, some product information has changed:> > [bullet list of all product names]> > Your duplicated order will include these changes. Do you want to duplicate this order?

The duplicate is back to the correct currency for the customer location, and the original order must then be canceled.

I am having the same issue here. Been on with support multiple times and they had 3 suggestions:

  1. The first option, while I am aware this is not ideal, is that, you can manually indicate to your customers that while the display might show USD, payments in CAD are accepted and processed at the conversion rate agreed upon during the transaction. I am referring the note which you only wrote “Test” for now.
  2. The second option would be to consider using a third-party currency converter app. These apps automatically display prices in the customer’s local currency based on their IP address or selected currency. I can recommend that you try to choose an app that supports conversion rate locking throughout the checkout. Popular apps include Currency Converter Plus, Bold Multi-Currency, and others available on the Shopify App Store.
  3. The 3rd option would be, if you’re comfortable with coding or have access to a developer, you could create a custom script to maintain consistent display of CAD prices when customers choose Bank Deposit. This might involve deeper customization of your theme or checkout process to ensure that the currency remains consistent. So to be honest with you, this may not be a reasonable option.

Option 1 - is completely unprofessional and confusing to clients

Option 2 - I tried a couple of the apps and neither of them fixed the problem - if anyone knows of an app that actually works, please let me know.

Option 3 - You have to have a Shopify Plus plan first and THEN pay a developer - so $$$$ - this is not acceptable.

When I told support all of that, they replied “This must be very stressful. I have already created the feedback to share with our dev team.”.

Not sure if this will fall unto deaf ears, but I really hope that this gets fixed ASAP!

Any update on this? Does anyone have a solution for this???

Also need this to be fixed.
