I’m having trouble deleting the “Purchase options cancellation policy” content from the policy editor so that it does not appear at checkout. I keep receiving the error message “Purchase options cancellation policy required.”
There are currently no subscription apps installed that could be causing this issue. I previously had a subscription app installed, but I am now building a new store from scratch using a fresh copy of my theme. If there was any leftover code from the previous app, it should be gone.
Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
If you’re in the correct store, and don’t have any subscription products, and you don’t have any app, and the policies aren’t linked in any menu, then your policies should be standard:
It’d probably be a good idea to log out, clear all cache and history, log back in, and if it’s still there you should contact Support. You can also simply choose the standard template, and not link it anywhere. It’d just be a phantom page.
Cancellation policies cannot be enforced at the theme level. This behavior is almost certainly tied to selling plan groups that are still attached to the store at the account level. I would start by opening several products, especially those that previously used subscriptions, and scrolling to the Purchase Options or Subscriptions section to see if those controls are still present.
The subscription app you previously used may also include a setting such as removing all selling plans or unlinking plans from products. That is often the cleanest way to detach them fully.
If those steps do not resolve it, the fastest path forward is to contact Shopify Support and have them verify whether any selling plan records are still associated with your store on the backend.
