I’d like to a Create a new Collections list page for my shopify store. I find the theme editor very confusing so would need to know how to do this easily, and where it should live so that I can actually link to it elsewhere. It seems Collections list pages live in lala land in the shopify interface and within your store UI.
That did have some recent changes, but it should not be that difficult.
I understood you want to create a new collection template. So first, in your editor in the top middle, where is says Home page, click and choose collection. A new panel will appear where you have a link “Create template.”
A new modal will open, and add a name for the new collection template.
Then you can add sections and chnage setting how you want and save after.
The last step is ain admin Products > Colection, in the collection you want to have this new template, select it from the bottom right.
You can also check the documentation that is there

Hi Laza thanks for your help!
It still doesn’t work and I can’t seem to next collections within a page.
You can see I created a new collection template shop-luxury (top left of screenshot) but how do you add specific collections to it?
All it shows is a preview of luxury accent chairs. Theres no way of adding and when you do open the pop out menu from the luxury accent chairs theres still no way of adding collections
to shop-luxury.
Let me know what you suggest
Andy
You did not follow the last step I mentioned,
When you save and by that set that new collection template to that collection, there will be an option in the theme editor to assign to that one collection, if it does not select by default.
But I am starting to think you want something else. And you should clarify more. Do you want to exactly do, show just one collection with the new template, or maybe you want to display several collections on one page?
Also, share an example of the store that has features you want, and if you can your own store link.
Hi laza,
I am also unsure where I can locate “Shop Luxury” once its been created. Where is it? Its not under collections.
What I want to do is place multiple collection links of my choice in one page that fucntions as an index.
Best wishes
Andy
My bad then you did mention Collection list page and I thought new Collection template.
Thats ok Laza. Shopify is a confusing and badly designed tool so none of us should feel bad lol. Thanks for your help here. As mentioned all I want to do is create an index page listing multple collections of my choice. i believe this was easier in previous versions. Google can then index this and will wake up ![]()
Well currently you have just one Collections list page, no options to make a new separate template.
But as alternative, you can make a new Page template, under Page in middle menu of theme editor. Name it collection-list, and then add section, not sure of your theme, but in Horizon, it is Collection list: Grid and select colelction you want. Last step is in admin Online store> Pages, create a new page and assign that new page template.
Difference between these two approaches are:
First will have a URL /collections/ so it can be just one.
And second will give you pages/name_of_page/
Let me know if you need some more explanation.
Yeah the collections list page thing is weirdly hidden. Go to your Online Store, then Navigation, and you can link to /collections directly (that’s the URL that shows all your collections). If your theme doesn’t have a collections list template already, you might need to add a page and manually link your collections or check if your theme has a collections list section you can enable in the theme editor under Templates. What theme are you using?
You’re mixing a collection template (controls a single collection page via Products → Collections) with a collections list page (shows multiple collections). Shopify only has one default at /collections, so if you need another, create a custom page template, add a collection list/grid section, and assign it in Online Store → Pages—this will use a /pages/ URL, and it depends on your theme supporting that section.
