Custom Off-Site payment for a Shopify Plus store

Hello,

I am trying to build a private custom off-site payment shopify app for merchants on shopify plus plan. I currently am not approved for the Payment Partner. I do not want to be listed on the app store and want to distribute using direct installation links.

  1. Is this something I can get done without requiring approval to become a Payment partner?
  2. Is there any documentation on how i can modify the payment screen without having access to the Payment Extension?
  3. I tried to look into shopify functions, but couldn’t find any documentation that could help me with this.

To be able to create a private/ custom app for an off-site payment gateway you would still need to be part of the Payment Partner program.

The plus partner program is different to the payment partner program - acceptance into one program does not guarantee you access to the other.

I have my own shopify plus store and am trying to build a custom payment app for my store. Based on the docs here:

It says I can build a custom payment app for my own store, but I don’t really see access to the payment extension code when trying to build an app. Its really confusing, and would appreciate any help that I can get.

Hi again YashJoshi,

The options for creating a custom payment app for Plus stores will not be available by default, which is why you’re not seeing access right now. You’ll need to get in touch with your Merchant Success Manager who can enable access to payment gateway APIs.
