Draft order stock deducted from wrong location despite correct settings

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with Shopify’s draft orders and inventory management across two locations. When I create a draft order, Shopify is deducting stock from location #1, even though the item is only available at location #2. This results in a negative stock at location #1 and doesn’t reflect the correct stock levels.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I’ve already taken with Shopify Support, but the problem persists:

  1. Checked Location Settings: I confirmed that both locations are set up properly in the admin, and location #2 has the stock available for the order.
  2. Reviewed Fulfillment Priority: I tried adjusting the fulfillment priority in Settings > Locations, but this setting is not available on my store.
  3. Draft Order Settings: While creating the draft order, I couldn’t find an explicit option to select which location the stock should be deducted from.
  4. Changed Default Location: I set location #2 as the default location for fulfillment, but the stock is still being deducted from location #1.
  5. Checked for Third-Party Apps: I don’t have any apps that should be interfering with inventory or order management.

Despite following all these steps, the issue persists, and stock continues to be deducted from location #1. Shopify Support suggested using a third-party app to manage this, but I feel this shouldn’t be necessary for something that should work out of the box.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
