I received an email today saying I have exceeded the EU VAT threshold. From what I can find, that threshold is 10,000 Euros. In the last 12 months I have only had two orders to UK and two orders to Sweden for a total around $250USD. So how is it that I’ve exceeded the threshold? Or is there something else I’m missing?
Same here, we’re UK based and had only £900 sales from the EU. Also received this alert yesterday, not sure what to do. Contacted Shopify support, not so much helpful.
Same question with a similar situation of sales clearly under the threshold to the EU. I received the same email but not a notification in my account, possible false alarm? Still worrying.
EU VAT thresholds do not apply to particular countries, but rather to the sum of all EU sales. If Shopify identifies a cross-border transaction improperly, even a small amount could result in notices. Check the currency conversions and tax filings in your markets. Inaccurate threshold notifications might result from mismatched areas and specific currency mismatches. I hope this is useful.
Same issue here, have not sent more than £1000 worth of orders to the EU within a year?, Did we all receive the email at the same time as maybe it was a glitch? Mine came through on 16/09/2025 at 00:06 UK time.
