Hi everyone, I have been encouraged by Shopify to post in here.. Google technical support team have indicated that my purchase conversion tracking is not working. They have provided me a code and ask me to paste here (without removing what is already there, however I’ve tried both ways).
It says it is sandboxed and will not let me click “connect”. When I hover over this connect button it reads “The Pixel cannot be connected until a custom pixel script is saved for it”. Google has indicated that Shopify needs to grant me full access to use this code/feature. Shopify says they have no idea and to paste in here. I noticed there are 3rd party apps such as “OneClick: Google Ads Tracking” & “Wixpa Google Ads Tracking”. Obviously people are coming across the same issue? Is my only option to purchase one of these 3rd party integrations? I already have several and do not wish to slow down the performance of my site by adding another. Google cannot help me with this until shopify “grants access”. However they said post on here for developer to assist as its beyond there expertise. Can anyone please assist? In my google ads its just showing this issue (below) which is why google has called me direct to fix this.
Shopify suggest google tracking is already working and connected, but clearly it is not. Please HELP! Thank you!

Is your GTM is connected?
Sorry I’m pretty new to this all. GTM? Where do I go to find this?
GTM=Google Tag Manager
GTM enables us to push any custom code in website backend without editing raw coding.it is google marketing product that GTM container code placed in theme.liquid between head section. once you placed GTM on your website you can place any tracking code via gtm without editing theme code file.
It’s a technical process to set up GTM.
No, I don’t believe it is set up. How do I do this or who do I get to do this?

copy the GTM code And paste it between head section
Ok I have the code, where is the “head section”?
Now enable your dataLayer for dynamic value tracking and make a tag in tag manager with conversion label and conversion ID.
I tried My level best to guide you quick steps that you can do by yourself. Now there are some technical issues that not possible to demonstrate here.
I’ve done this, not sure what goes in these other boxes?

The first reply posted here is completely wrong.
This is a Shopify bug.
To resolve:
- Click the little back button like you are going to quit the process
- Then click ‘Save’ instead of ‘Discard’
- The ‘Connect’ button will magically work
