Hello, I would like to ask if you could help me fix my issue with connecting google analytics to my store. I recently tried to add google analytics but It doesn’t work and I don’t know why.
Hey @jondrej ,
Welcome to the Shopify Community!
What stage of the setup are you having trouble with? If you already use Google products, such as Gmail or Ads, then you can use the same account for Google Analytics.
If you don’t already have an account for a Google product, then you can create a Google account. You don’t have to use the Gmail account for anything other than signing in and out of Google Analytics. After you have a Google account, you need to Create an Analytics account. After you create your account, follow the steps listed here to Enable Google Analytics.
It’s great to see you are implementing this! The point of adding Google Analytics to your Shopify store is to track as much of your users’ interaction with your site as possible. The more you track, the better you can understand your own site.
Let me know if I can clarify anything further!
Hello @Moira I’m in the step of adding the analytics to my store, but the preferences way doesn’t currently work with google analysis anymore so I needed to insert the tag code into theme.liuid as instructed but i don’t why It doesn’t work. Thank you.
@jondrej Do you have the option to add your tag into this Google Analytics box within your Preferences? By default, Google creates Google Analytics 4 properties, which are not compatible with Shopify yet. Make sure that you create a Universal Analytics property instead. Currently, UA tags are still being accepted until July 2023. Our developers are working on a method to integrate GA4 as we speak!
If you don’t see a tracking code in the Google Analytics section of your Preferences page, and you don’t have a Google Analytics tracking tag in your theme.liquid file, then Google Analytics isn’t enabled on your store. Just double-checking that you have a Google Account setup?
