How do I push an existing theme to a GitHub repo?

I’ve already got an existing Shopify theme/site built. But I want to push it to a repo in GitHub. Anyone have experience with this and can guide me?

Download your theme files first

and then upload the same on github

once uploaded in github

go to your shopify store and select add theme through github repository

and your shopify will sync with github repository

Hi @Charles_Parsow .
Easy way to do it,

In shopify admin, go to the online store, then go to theme, click next to your theme.

Click GitHub at the top, then connect your GitHub account.

Pick connect to repository creates a new one or creates an existing one.
That’s it, your theme code pushes straight to GitHub.

I don’t see a next button

When I click on ‘Online Store’, I am taken to a page where I see my live theme and there’s an ‘Edit theme’ button and a button with 3 dots (view, rename, duplicate, edit code, edit default theme content, download theme file)

at the top right, there’s another 3 dot button next to View Store and where I can change the store from Public to Private. the 3 dot button shows Manage APp, Unpin, Uninstall
