embed the Angular app in an iframe in the Shopify frontend
make calls from Angular to Shopify
The product configurator shall fetch custom data from Shopify and also create a new Product via the API and make it possible for customers to buy these products.
I’ve already setup:
the Angular app
an API to handle requests between Angular and Shopify
custom Shopify app basis via CLI
What stops me from continuing is that I’ve read that you can’t create custom endpoints in Shopify. This means I can’t even fetch the settings I’ve created in the Shopify app.
Are there any other methods I could use to embed the App into Shopify frontend and make calls to query the DB/API?
Or is there a way I could use Angular nativley to extend the Shopify frontend with the configurator?
I don’t think that’s the solution to my problem. The documentation specifically says “This allows you to fetch and display data on a merchant’s store from an external source”. But I would need to fetch data from Shopify and send it to the external source and vice verca.
Could you use the Shopify Admin API to store and retrieve data in metafields or metaobjects, and your custom API can interact with these metafields, fetching and returning them to your Angular app?
Metaobjects sound like a solution to me. But I need to have the object settings be configurable in the Shopify Admin as well in some sort of form. Also how would I go about integrating the Angular app in the storefront?
While still researching on this I came to the conclusion that it would be better to drop the Angular approach since it’s more complex than it needs to and it produces to much overhead with another API in between.
Is there maybe another method I could try to integrate my product configurator directly into the Storefront?
