Hi everyone, I’m setting up my store for my companyand I’m running into a product image issue. Some of my product images aren’t loading properly on the product page, and in a few cases they appear blank or don’t show up at all. I’ve tried re‑uploading the images and checking different devices, but the problem is still happening. If anyone has dealt with this before or knows what I should check, I’d really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Could you please share your store URL, along with the password if it’s password-protected?

These are the most common reasons why product images don’t load, along with what you should check:

File-related issues

  • Make sure the image format is JPG, PNG, WEBP, or GIF. Formats like HEIC or BMP aren’t supported.

  • Keep the file size under 20 MB—large files can fail to load, especially on slower connections.

  • Avoid special characters in filenames (like spaces, &, %, #). Rename the file and re-upload if needed.

Upload or CDN issues

  • After uploading an image again, do a hard refresh (Ctrl + Shift + R or Cmd + Shift + R) to clear cache.

  • Check the image in your Shopify admin product page:

    • If it’s broken there, it’s likely an upload issue.

    • If it looks fine in admin but not on the storefront, the problem is probably theme-related.

Theme-related issues

  • A recent theme update or customization might have broken how images are displayed.

  • Check if the issue happens with all products or only some:

    • If only some are affected, compare their image size or aspect ratio with products that work.

It has to do with theme loading, and files are served from Shopify CDN. Just ensure that the images are in a compatible format (jpg,png) and not too big, then resave compressed. Then verify the product template and confirm the media loop isn’t somehow filtering variants. Then you need to clear your browser cache and try in incognito mode. If they are still happen, duplicate the theme, then disable any recent apps that add scripts, since sometimes those can block images from appearing.
