Managing Inventory for Subscription Program – How to Allocate Stock Separately from Online Store?

Hi everyone,

I’m running a subscription program and need to allocate a specific amount of inventory exclusively for my subscription members, ensuring it doesn’t get sold through my regular online store. I’m wondering if I can achieve this in Shopify by using different warehouse locations—one for subscriptions and another for standard eCommerce orders.

Has anyone successfully done this? If so, what’s the best approach? Should I set up a separate location for the subscription inventory, and would that prevent it from being available in the main store? Are there any better workarounds?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I am trying to figure out the same - did you find a solution?

Don’t know if it would help directly but the reservations part in recharge might be able to be handled by PricePilot - Prevent overselling and price gaps on ReCharge subscriptions | Shopify App Store . - would obviously only work for recharge users not native subscriptions

Inventory is detected by shopify
Subscription app tells the shopify to charge the user. Rest is handled by shopify including order creation and inventory deduction
