Meta Pixel with Shopify partner integration not firing

Greetings,

does anyone understand how the shopify partner integration for the meta pixel functions? How does it install the pixel on your website? I’m not talking about the server side (conversion api) but the web/browser events.

I installed the pixel via partner integration on my website but it only tracks server signals and the pixel helper isn’t recognizing a pixel on my website. Is my ‘facebook & instagram’ app bugged and it is actually supposed to install code somewhere on my website.

Contacted shopify support about this → they told me to contact meta about it because it’s a third party app → meta support told me to contact shopify about this because the app is integrated on shopify.

Help would be appreciated.

(Thinking about installing via GTM but want to avoid deduplication errors as it should already be installed via integration)

Hello @Jaywe ,

The Shopify partner integration for the meta pixel works by allowing you to install the Facebook pixel on your Shopify store. When you install the Facebook & Instagram app on your Shopify store, it will automatically install the Facebook pixel on your website. The pixel will track web/browser events, such as page views, add to carts, and purchases.

It’s possible that there may be a technical issue with the integration or with your Facebook & Instagram apps. However, if you’ve already contacted both Shopify and Meta support and they were unable to help, you may want to try troubleshooting the installation yourself.

First, you can check if the Facebook pixel is installed on your website by using the Facebook Pixel Helper extension for Google Chrome. If the Pixel Helper isn’t recognizing the pixel on your website, it’s likely that there’s an issue with the installation.

If the Facebook pixel is not installed on your website, you can try reinstalling the Facebook & Instagram app on your Shopify store. Make sure that you follow all of the installation instructions carefully and that you are logged into the correct Facebook account when you install the app.

If you’re still having trouble, you may want to consider using Google Tag Manager (GTM) to install the Facebook pixel on your website. GTM can help you avoid deduplication errors and give you more control over how the pixel is installed and configured.

Overall, if you’re experiencing issues with the Shopify partner integration for the meta pixel, it’s important to troubleshoot the installation and reach out to Shopify or Meta support for assistance.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Jaywe,

Thanks for your query.

GTM is the best practice to configure any tracking platform with the website.

pixel integration via GTM consists of 4 major steps:

  1. Custom Datalayer setup in custom pixel customer events

  2. Creating datalayer variables like value, currency, transaction Id, items, item name, item_id

  3. Trigger for all the events like view item, add to cart, checkout and purchase

  4. Event tag creation for the events and assign the variables and trigger.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Thanks
