Missing inventory data How to fix it?

Missing inventory data
One or more products don’t have corresponding inventory data. This may be due to mismatches in product IDs between the primary data source and your inventory data source

Hi there! :waving_hand:

The “Missing inventory data” message usually means that Shopify can’t match your products with the inventory records. This often happens when there’s a mismatch between your product IDs and the IDs used in your inventory source.

Here’s how to troubleshoot:

:one: Check product IDs

  • Make sure the IDs in your inventory data source exactly match the Shopify product or variant IDs.

  • If you’re importing via CSV, ensure the Variant ID or Handle columns are consistent.

:two: Verify inventory locations

  • If your store has multiple locations, inventory needs to exist at the location assigned to that product.

  • Go to Products → Inventory and check that each product has stock at the correct location.

:three: Sync apps or integrations

  • If you’re using a third-party inventory app, check that it’s syncing properly.

  • Sometimes apps create their own internal IDs, which don’t match Shopify’s, causing the “missing inventory data” warning.

:four: Common fixes

  • Re-export your inventory CSV from the source and match it to the Shopify product IDs.

  • If using an app, run a full sync or reconnect the integration.

  • For CSV imports, always use Variant IDs, not just product titles, since titles can change.

:light_bulb: Tip: Start by identifying one product with missing inventory, find its Shopify variant ID, and see if that matches your inventory source. That usually highlights where the mismatch is happening.
