New editions 2026 Ruined my store and I am now wasting time and money in Fixing

How frustrating is this that Shopify developers changed everything in my theme? No one else has access to my store, and I worked very hard to design my store, but this new addition ruined everything.

My main page images have gone back to the old ones. My footer policies and other links that I pulled upward were removed. My blog section was removed from the footer. My reviews were moved below the product suggestions, but I had them after the description and photos.

I was seeing in Growth that my Special Offer page was updated on June 16, but I never did it.

The mobile app dashboard changed into something so ugly, half black and half white. There is nothing visible on that black part, no highlights or anything showing if someone is live or if there is an order. Everything is blurry black, so I have to increase the brightness fully to see it, and then the white part flashes directly into my eyes.

Their developers are just crap and made stupid changes that were not required. When I check stats via the app, if I click Direct Visits, it goes to Google stats, and if I check Google, it goes to another section. Everything is mixed up.

Sellers are just fixing and redesigning their stores again, and I have to pay a developer to fix all this because no one has the ability to fix these things themselves.

Who is responsible for this loss? I extremely hate that new black and white dashboard. I hate paying a huge fee to Shopify and then having their developers create a big mess with stores.

Do you mean you did an update and that has changed your store?

Sounds heavy either way.

Hello there @Mashal1 I’m so sorry that you’ve experienced this.
But what you’re describing isn’t typically Shopify changing your theme, but rather a theme update, app embed, or an installed app injecting script changes that modify layouts and sections on the fly.

The first thing I would do is look in Online Store themes for any recent updated theme version and compare it to the one you have published. Then go to Apps and uninstall anything recently installed or updated, particularly review, upsell, or analytics apps, and try again.

Also see Theme Editor App embeds and Theme settings modifications. Most of these layout shifts can be atributed back there, not Shopify core.

First of all, there are no new apps installed. I always avoid installing apps. Secondly, I saw many people experiencing this same change in the layout. This is 100% Shopify changing everything, as the Marketing section is now called Growth. If I want to check the analytics for Direct, it now takes 3 or 4 clicks to get to that page. Previously, it was just one click.

Also, since Shopify changed this, if I check analytics through my phone, it never goes to the exact channel. If I click Google, it shows Direct. If I click Direct, it takes me to Social Media. Everything is a big mess. It’s not just me—so many people don’t like this new layout and are talking about this change. It is extremely frustrating. No theme updated from my ends and if there was auto it should no remove all footer links, Blogs and it should not set all old content and photos i used many months ago.

Hi @Mashal1 .

Your frustration is completely valid, and this should not have happened.

The first thing to do right now is contact Shopify Support and tell them your store was changed without your permission. Ask them to check the activity log to see exactly what happened, and ask them to restore a previous version of your theme. Shopify keeps backups and can roll things back without you needing a developer.

The black and white app issue has been reported by other merchants too, so report it through the app feedback button and post it in the Shopify Community forum so it gets attention.

You should not have to pay anyone to fix changes Shopify made without your consent. Make that point clearly in your support message.

Take screenshots of everything right now before anything else changes!

Sounds like you are mixing Admin changes with theme changes…

Admin changes happen all the time. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst.

Installed themes, on the other hand are not changed in any way by Shopify. Even if they update a theme, it still is not affected on your installed theme. The installed version is edited and changed by the Owner only, and those whom the Owner allows access. This is not debatable. Shopify did not change your theme. Your installed theme files are not part of any updates or changes that Shopify makes.

Shopify allows you to install up to 20 themes. You should also check to verify you’re in the correct one.
