We are currently working on changing from another company to working fully with shopify email for our automated emails.
We now need to find out if we can add a personal track your order button or link, inside shopify email. Is that a possibility? We would like to have a button or something where the customer can click on, and get to their personal track your order page, where their information is all set to check.
Thank you in advance for helping us figure this out!
Hey,
Yes, you can add a personalized order tracking button on Shopify email.
You can use Shopify’s default email templates, or custom email templates. You can select the email templates listed below to add a button to the order tracking page:
- Order confirmation
- Shipping confirmation
- Shipping updates
If you use Shopify’s default templates, then these templates already come with order tracking buttons.
Therefore, all you have to do is – after choosing the template add tracking numbers to your orders. The order tracking link is emailed to your customer automatically. Lastly, don’t forget to test the functionality, send an email to yourself and confirm.
NOTE: This solution is suitable if you use Shopify’s default templates and you haven’t customized your email templates earlier. If your case is different please visit this Shopify’s official help article.
Hey @shopfashion
You can’t natively add a fully personalized “track your order” button in Shopify Email that automatically pulls in each customer’s order info, Shopify’s email editor doesn’t support that kind of dynamic content out of the box. What most merchants do is either:
-
Link customers to their order status page (the one Shopify generates for each order, which already has tracking info if you’ve added it).
-
Or use an app that creates a branded tracking page and lets you drop a universal “Track Order” button in your emails that takes customers straight to their personal tracking view.
If you want something more polished and branded, ParcelPanel Order Tracking is built exactly for this. It integrates with Shopify, generates a custom tracking page under your domain, and you can embed a “Track My Order” button in Shopify Email that routes each customer to the right page with their info pre-filled.
If this gave you something useful, feel free to mark it as a solution so others can find it too!
Hi @shopfashion ,
Ann here from the BestTrack team.
Since you’re moving your automated emails into Shopify Email, I’d separate this into two cases:
- For Shopify’s transactional notifications, like shipping confirmation or shipping updates, Shopify can include order-specific tracking information once the order has tracking details added.
- For regular Shopify Email campaigns, it’s usually less straightforward to create a fully personalized tracking button that automatically knows each customer’s order.
Before switching everything over, I’d definitely place a few test orders and check the full customer journey: email button → tracking page → correct order status. That small test can save a lot of customer confusion later.
Full disclosure: I’m from BestTrack. If what you want is a cleaner branded tracking experience after the customer clicks from email, you can search “BestTrack” in the Shopify App Store. It supports branded tracking pages and real-time tracking updates, with a free plan for up to 300 orders/month.
Hope the migration goes smoothly. Email changes can be small technically, but they have a big impact on customer trust.
By default, whenever you add a tracking number to an order and mark it as fulfilled, Shopify sends a shipping confirmation email to the customer. That email includes a “Track with Shop” button, which opens the Shop app Shopify’s own order tracking app.
If you’re looking to give your customers a better and more branded tracking experience, I’d recommend having a dedicated Track Your Order page on your own storefront instead. Customers can simply enter their order number and email address to see real-time tracking updates pulled directly from the shipping carrier, without leaving your website.
I’ve personally recommended PluginHive Shipment Tracking & Notify to a few merchants for this, and they’ve had a good experience with it. It provides a branded tracking page along with automatic tracking updates maybe you can also give this a try and let me know how it worked for you.
