Removing a hacked Meta pixel

My FB business portfolio has been hacked and I’m unable to remove the pixel from my shopify store as I have to get permission from the hacker to do so. Does anyone know if there is another way I can delete this Pixel? Shopify support chats have been unable to advise.

Hey, have you tried the following:

Step 1: Remove the Pixel from Your Shopify Store1. Log in to your Shopify admin.

  1. Go to the “Online Store” section in the left-hand menu, and click on “Preferences”.
  2. Scroll down to the Facebook Pixel section.
  3. You should see the current Pixel ID entered here. Remove the Pixel ID or any Facebook Pixel code that is there.

Step 2: Check for Any Additional Code in the Theme

Sometimes, a hacked Facebook Pixel might have been inserted directly into your store’s theme files. To remove it:

  1. Go to the “Online Store” section and then click “Themes”.
  2. Find your active theme and click on “Actions”, then select “Edit code”.
  3. Look for theme.liquid or other template files where the Pixel might have been inserted, such as in the header or footer sections. These files are typically located in the Layout folder.
  4. Search for any Facebook Pixel code (look for scripts containing “fbq(‘track’, ‘PageView’)” or similar terms). Remove any such code you find.

If these basic steps don’t work, you’ll have to keep trying to contact Shopify support, to get them to unlink it from their end!

Hi Ollie,
Thanks for this information.
When i follow your instructions within preferences shopify says set up
facebook as I tried to delete the facebook link from shopify. However I am
still unable to delete the pixel as it has been claimed by the hacker.
Going round in circles with shopify. All they say is contact Meta and that
gets me nowhere.
