Setting "Maximum discount use per customer"

We sell several brands on Shopify that offer a discount for their products. They will reimburse us for the discount we give the customer, but we must abide by the limits they set PER CUSTOMER. So, a customer may be able to buy 3 widgets at a discount, but any additional purchases made by that customer would be at the higher price.

It seems like a simple - and common - request:

The discount needs to have a “maximum number of uses PER CUSTOMER”.

Has anyone determined a way to do this?

Hi @AlyssaJakes ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

After taking a closer look, it seems this feature with discounts is not natively available. Currently discounts have the ability to be limited to one per customer in the Usage Limits section of the Discounts page. As I can completely understand the impact, I will be sure to pass this feedback along to our Developers. We’re always looking for way to improve the platform and appreciate this suggestion. For the time being however, you can check out the Shopify App Store for an app that may be able to achieve this!

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

I saw your question about quantity limits on discounts. DC Order Limits does not control discount codes directly, but it can limit how many of the discounted products each customer can purchase.

Setup:

  1. Tag the sponsored products

  2. Create a customer purchase limit rule that targets that tag

  3. Set the max quantity, for example, 3 per customer

  4. If you need the limit to reset, use Shopify Flow to reset the tracked purchase history on your schedule

Let me know if this setup works for you, happy to help if you run into anything.
