Shopify keeps asking for 2FA code — I never set this up, how can I remove it?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to log into my Shopify account, but it keeps asking me for a two-factor authentication (2FA) code. I never set up 2FA on this account, so I don’t have any codes or backup codes to use.

How can I remove or reset the 2FA requirement so I can access my store?

If you did not enable 2FA, it may have been enabled by another person with access. You might even need to regain access using the store reclaim process at shopify.com/reclaim. Prepare the required invoice details, or domain info that will be used to verify ownership and for you to regain control without needing your original 2FA device or obtaining codes. Hope this helps.

  1. Ask your colleague or coworkers if they enable the two-factor authentication. If so, let them give you the code to login Shopify account.
  2. If none of them set up the 2FA, it is better to report this situation to Shopify and I believe their advisors will give you some feedback and follow up this issue to be resolved.
