Is there a way or an app that will allow me to use the shopify POS on a desktop? We are going to be using it in retail locations and the transition would be much easier if this could be done on a PC.
You would have to use an emulator like blue stacks but you may well then have issues with peripherals like scanners and printers, I’ve not tested it on a PC as all my clients originally moved from cash registers.
If space is an issue there are some great iPad stands available raise them off the desk area. I have clients using both standard iPads and also for a bigger screen, iPad pros.
If space truly is the issue then the other option you could look at would be using iPhones and take pos truly mobile in your stores.
The final thing I would say is sometimes you have to not fight the change with IT as it can cause you big problems down the line. By using PC you would be taking yourself outside the Shopify stack and adding risk into what would be a critical system for store operations. If you were a client of mine I would strongly advise against it.
