Showing Venmo pay button in Checkout page

Hi Team, In our shopify website “Venmo” is appearing as a pay option on the Checkout page. We never enabled it and we didn’t see any settings regarding this payment but why it is showing? Can you please look into it?

I am here with the attached screenshot.

Merchants based in the US who have enabled PayPal Express Checkout as a payment method are automatically offering Venmo as a payment option to buyers in the US. The two come together let’s just say!

Venmo is an additional service offered by PayPal, which gives your customers another potentially faster way to check out online. Any purchases made through Venmo will be paid out into your PayPal account. Purchases made with Venmo will also show as PayPal Express in the following areas:

  • Order timeline

  • Order confirmation page

  • Order confirmation notifications

  • All other notifications

  • Analytics and reports

There is no way to opt out of this without removing PayPal from your store completely because as mentioned they go hand in hand. Let me know if you have any questions about it!

How are you finding things going on your web shop so far? I had a browse through your store and noticed you didn’t have any customer reviews yet. Consider adding customer reviews to the product pages. This can help build trust with potential customers and encourage them to make a purchase. I am having the complete opposite issue. I have PayPal as an additional payment method but Venmo does NOT appear on the checkout page for clients. There is only the PayPal icon. How can I ensure the Venmo icon also appears??

Venmo is available to merchants in the US who are on the updated checkout and have PayPal Express Checkout enabled. You need to meet these requirements in order for Venmo to show.

Additionally, please check that you have enabled 'Show payment icons’ in your theme for this option to appear. More information can be found here at this page.

Hi, there. I hope it’s okay to add on here as the original discussion was from several months ago. I am wondering if Venmo payments will have the same protection for sellers that PayPal payments would have. Any information you can share on this would be greatly appreciated.
