When will Sidekick be able to develop backend apps? I am using Claude Code a lot for theme editing but I would like to make a solid foundations of private backend apps with Sidekick and continue development with Claude. Sidekick could help make it more up to Shopify standards from the start.

Exactly. Vibe coding made me so far a lot of components and customizations. I used to spend months just communicating with freelance developers in order to finish some advancements. I started using sidekick for simple frontend tasks and soon evolved to connecting a flow of local editing + shopify + git for versioning. Even today I like to start with a Sidekick and then continue development with Claude Code. My appetites grew along with the results and my confidence in vibe coding. Now I need a solution that needs too much complex interface to be used in a theme editor. On the other hand I would really appreciate Sidekick to make a foundation of such apps just to be sure that app will grow in proper Shopify direction. I expect to build more than one private custom app tailored to my needs.

I think backend app generation would be a great next step for Sidekick. Right now, Sidekick can already generate admin apps and help with store operations, but its scope is still limited to Shopify’s Admin API and internal admin experiences. It can’t build fully featured backend applications with custom infrastructure, external databases, or complex integrations the way a traditional development workflow can.
