Hi, I’d like to know if it’s possible through Shopify to sync inventory between SKUs.
For example, let’s say I have a T-shirt in 3 different colors, and I want to create three separate product pages (each page showing a different main image for its color). Inside each product page, customers can still choose the other colors.
I need to make sure that if someone visits the black T-shirt product page and selects the white T-shirt, the inventory will sync with the same SKU of the white T-shirt that also exists in the other two product pages.
While Shopify doesn’t allow the same SKU to exist on separate product pages, you can achieve this exact outcome with a simple, app-free method.
The best practice is to create one single product and add all three colors as variants within it. Make sure to assign the correct image to each color variant.
Then, go to your live product page and click on each color swatch one by one. As you click each swatch, copy the unique URL that appears in your browser’s address bar. These are your “variant URLs.”
You can now use these specific links in your navigation, collections, and ads to send customers directly to the product page with that exact color pre-selected. This is the recommended method as it keeps your inventory perfectly synced and consolidates your customer reviews.
Shopify treats each product as its own inventory pool and doesn’t natively allow the same SKU to sync across multiple separate product pages.
The easiest and most reliable way to achieve exactly what you want is using a third-party app from the Shopify App Store. Search for an “inventory management” or “product bundling” app. These apps let you link identical SKUs across different product pages so stock updates automatically. If someone buys the white tee on one page, the inventory adjusts everywhere.
If you use a third-party app, here’s how it works:
Create separate products: Set up a unique product page for each color (e.g., “Black T-Shirt,” “White T-Shirt”).
Add all variants to each: On every product page, add the variants for all available colors, allowing customers to choose any color from any page.
Install a sync app: Get an “inventory sync” or “product bundle” app from the Shopify App Store.
Link the SKUs: Use the app to connect the identical SKUs across your different product pages (e.g., link the White-T-Shirt-Medium SKU from all three products).
Once linked, the app will automatically sync the inventory. A sale from one page will reduce the stock count for that item everywhere.
Without an app, the only native option is to use variants under a single product, since that keeps inventory tied to the same SKU.
With Easify Product Options, you can simply use the URL option type to connect your separate products together.
So for your T-shirts: Black, Brown, and Green each stay as their own product page. Then, on each page, you add options for the other colors and link them to their respective product URLs. That way, if a customer is on the Black page and clicks Brown, they’re redirected straight to the Brown product page (and its inventory).
Super easy to set up, and keeps everything synced while still giving customers a smooth browsing experience
