Web URL (Link) open in Shopify App (iOS)

Hi,

I would like to open a link directly in the shopify app on iOS devices.

The link is a normal web link like:

https://www.domain.com/test.html

If I klick on this link on an iOS device it opens the link in the standard browser. But I would like to open this link in the shopify app. So I was wondering is there any chance to do this?

I know there is an app like “Opener.Link” (see: https://opener.link)

This app allows you to configure links for apps. Unfortunately this app does not support shopify yet. So if anyone knows an app or any other workaround, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the context and you have reached the German community here in case you want to discuss this in German which is no problem at all! But EN is fine too!

And with “shopify app” you mean the backend app right? If yes, the issue with your URL example where you say “The link is a normal web link like…” is that it links to the frontend and not the backend. We would need to distinguish between frontend and backend links here.

So do you want to open the backend, for example, on an iPhone instead of the frontend? If yes, then links can be opened in the app with the following link on any iOS device, plus the subdirectory path:

thank you for your message. But this is not what I am asking for.

I want to open a shopify link in the shopify APP! So when I open your link or any other link it always opens the link in the standard browser of the iOS because links are normally related to the standard browser.

I know it from windows. If you change a link to lets say “skype://www.demo.com/” it opens the link in skype or lets say “mailto:email@email.com” opens this “link” in your standard email program.

So I am asking is there any chance to open shopify backend links in the shopify app instead of the standard browser by using something like “mailto” or “skype” in the beginning.

As I said there is an app on iOS named “link.opener” which does exactly what I am searching for. Unfortunately shopify is not implemented. So I was wondering if there is any other soulution for this.

Thanks and I know what mailto: and similar links are that open in the app itself.

So that is a quick answer and the answer lies in your mobile phone settings. Have you tried setting it there that all shopify admin links open in the app instead of in the browser?

At least in Android it looks like this:

thanks but this does not exist in ios - as far as i know. thats exactly why i am asking. i know in windows you have it, but ios? even google doesnt know a solution for this on ios…

Sorry to hear that… That would therefore be a limitation and hard no on iOS, I’m afraid.
