Why are sudden JavaScript errors affecting my client's online store features?

Hi,

I am a Shopify partner. I help to build a store for my client, https://www.thegoldenduck.co/.

The Shopify store uses a few Shopify apps for features like:

  • Sliding shopping cart (Slide Cart app)
  • Loyalty Program (Smile IO)
  • Newsletter sign up (Klaviyo: Email Marketing & SMS)

All is running well for quite some time. But recently, lots of javascript errors started showing. Please refer to the screenshot of the errors at the very bottom of this post.

Some features on the store are not working now:

  • The Smile IO launcher is now not showing on the Shopify store
  • Add to cart button does not add product to the sliding cart
  • Mobile navigation menu is not working

I am unsure what causes the javascript errors on the live store.

I back up the theme on the live store and test it on a development store (https://thegoldenduck-staging.myshopify.com.)

On the development store:

  • The Smile IO is working
  • Add to cart button is working. Product is added to the sliding cart when clicked
  • Mobile navigation menu is working properly

And the javascript errors do not occur on the development store.

Development Store URL: https://thegoldenduck-staging.myshopify.com

And help or advice to solve this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I guess slidecarthq.js is including jquery in their bundle and thats causing the issue. Try disabling it.
I tried disabling it with network blocking and breaking errors were gone.

Hi Jm_koh,

I’m Richard, CRO Expert from the PageFly team. Regards your problem, I’m wondering if you may use any page speed-related apps so that it blocks requests which makes other apps can’t get their scripts and raises the errors.

If that’s the case, try disabling the app and see if it works for you. Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Richard - PageFly
