Why are visitors not converting to sales?

Store URL

Store description

Need suggestions! I do get around 50-100 visitors however have received no orders yet!

How do I convert them to customers and what could I be doing better?

What feedback do you want?

How to build trust with customers or incline them to purchase the candle?

Is there a lack in the transition to customer? Is it a lack in product quantity? Or maybe I can display the products better? Does it not look interesting enough?

Hi @ma.aditi .

I hope you are having a fantastic day!
I visited your website.
Visitors aren’t buying because they don’t trust the store yet.
Add things like review, real photos of the candle burning, clear shipping info,
and an easy return policy.

That’s how to build trust and get more sales.

That’s great that you’re getting traffic to the store! I agree with the previous post - more reviews, and also point people to your Instagram/Tiktok so they can see more videos & UGC. I would also do an about page with the background of you and how your brand started. A few videos of the product would also help. And don’t forget to add a favicon for your store!

Since you ship local to India, your best actions would be to consult local businesses for feedback and to consult local customers.

Taking @SectionKit and @CherylfromMarklo advice to put fake reviews on your site is probably the worst thing you could do for trust. If you get reviews, put them on the store, but fake reviews are a sign that you’re just a scammer.

@Maximus3 wait what? No one is recommending fake reviews here

Lol you can’t put reviews if you don’t have sales… unless they are fake. So recommending reviews to someone who hasn’t has any sales is probably not the best idea.

One thing I’d add is that 50 to 100 visitors may still be too little to judge the store fully. I’d first check where those visitors are coming from. If the traffic is from random clicks, broad social posts, or people who are not candle buyers, the conversion rate can easily be zero, can’t it?

50-100 visitors with zero orders usually means it’s a trust issue more than a traffic issue. people landing on a candle store from someone they’ve never heard of need to immediately feel like this is a legit, quality brand. reviews are the biggest unlock here but since you’re early, even a few friends/family reviews or an unboxing video help a ton.

the other thing i’d look at is your product imagery. candles are super sensory and people want to imagine the vibe, not just see a jar on a white background. we use prodofoto to generate lifestyle shots of our products in different settings and it made a noticeable difference in how people perceived the brand. a candle on a nightstand or next to a book hits way different than product-on-white.

I do have offline sales, so I can ask them to review the candle and put those reviews on the site. I have added a few reviews on my instagram anyway!

If you’re getting steady 50-100 visitors but no sales yet, the main issue might include trust and clarity. Having said that, you can increast store trust by adding shipping infor, refund policy (which you already have), social proof, reviews (which you need). And to answer for your question of is this possible to add reviews from you offline customers or not, I would say yes. You can take advantage of this and ask offline customers to provide feedback (better with images) and include them in product page. This would increase customer trust and convert them. Even 5–10 authentic reviews on your product pages can make a big difference for a new store. If possible, ask them to include:

  • Their favorite scent
  • Why they bought it
  • How they use it (relaxing, gifting, home décor, etc.)

Then you can check the product page clarity. Does it help customer understand what makes your candle different, what scent they can expect (you have this), and why they should care for example mood, gift ideas,.. If it feels generic (“hand-poured candle, natural wax”), it won’t convert well unless you add emotion and context like relaxation, home ambiance, gift-ready positioning, etc.
Next thing you can think of is your offer, I see you are offering single candle now, you can consider trying starter sets or gift bundle,..

Finally, if you’re seeking for help to optimize content, product page, collection page to better convert, you can try SEOWILL (here) that can help with generating more persuasive and more intent-centric content

Hope this helps

@ma.aditi .. store is not problem area.. problem with targeting ..

If you audience.. then keep trying the remarking snd audience interest

Hi @ma.aditi

I visited your store and I think the products look great. One area you could improve is adding more engaging content to build trust and keep visitors on the site longer.

Consider adding:
• Customer testimonials slider
• Video slider showcasing your candles and packaging
• Product slider for bestsellers and featured collections
• Instagram feed/gallery slider to display real customer engagement

For candles especially, a video slider can make a huge difference by helping customers experience the product visually before purchasing.

You can easily create these sections using:
Essential Grid Gallery – Photo galleries, shoppable lookbooks, and video galleries
EasyBoost – Product sliders, collection sliders, countdowns, and upsell sections
Slider Revolution – Hero banners, video sliders, testimonials, Instagram feeds, countdowns, and conversion-focused sections

Wishing you the best with your store!

ok first off the name “Picnicbasketstore” plus a candle brand threw me for a sec, like i landed expecting wicker baskets and got candles. minor but worth a thought on whether the name’s working against you.

the bigger issue is your hero. “Scents you’ll always come back to” tells me nothing. that line could sit on literally any candle store on shopify. i poked around and you’ve actually got a better line in “Everyday luxury, the Picnic Basket way” but even that’s soft. what’s the actual reason i pick you over the dozen other candle shops in my feed? hand-poured? clean burn time? specific scent story? whatever makes you different needs to be in the headline, not vibes about coming back. right now you’re asking a new visitor to trust a feeling about a product they can’t smell through the screen, and giving them nothing concrete to hang onto.

the reviews thing is what i’d fix today though. you’re showing “from 5 reviews” and only 3 testimonials. for candles specifically, where smell is the whole gamble, 5 reviews reads either brand new or dead slow, and no star rating shown makes it worse. people scan for the number and the stars before they read a word. if you’ve got more orders than reviews (most stores do), get an automated post-purchase email asking for one with a photo. even getting to 30-40 reviews with a visible 4.8 changes how the whole store feels. when i ran my last brand the single biggest jump in conversion came from just stacking real reviews, not anything clever.

last thing, your “Free Petite Candle on all orders. Offer valid till 1st July.” promo is good but the copy’s vague. is there a minimum spend? automatic or code? “valid till 1st July” with no detail makes someone wonder if it even applies to them, and a confused shopper doesn’t buy, they bounce. spell out exactly what qualifies and carry that line straight into your cart and product pages. free gift is a strong hook, don’t make people guess at it.

fix the review count and tighten the hero and i think this converts a lot better. i pull apart shops like this a lot, theres a bunch over on r/StoreAudits if you want more of this kind of teardown.

Have you tried to collect visitors’ feedback towards your product or shop website ?

Hi, @ma.aditi

Getting 50-100 visitors is a positive sign that people are finding your store. If those visits aren’t turning into orders yet, I’d focus on a few areas that can help encourage more visitors to complete a purchase.

Make the value proposition clearer

The branding and photography are lovely, but I’d make it clearer why someone should choose your candles over other brands. Highlight your biggest selling points upfront whether that’s hand-poured in India, clean-burning soy wax, premium fragrance oils, or long burn time so visitors immediately understand what makes your products special.

Strengthen your product pages

Candles are an experience-driven purchase. I’d add more details like burn time, fragrance notes, room recommendations, and lifestyle benefits alongside the product images. The more a customer can imagine using the candle in their home, the easier it is to justify the purchase.

Build more trust

Since this is a newer brand, trust plays a huge role. Make sure delivery information, return policy, contact details, and secure payment options are easy to find. If you have customer reviews or photos from buyers, I’d feature them much more prominently throughout the store.

Give visitors a reason to buy now

A small first-order discount, free shipping above a certain value, or curated candle bundles can help convert visitors who are interested but still undecided. These offers often work well for first-time customers.

Site speed

I’d also check your site’s performance on PageSpeed Report . Even small delays can increase bounce rates and reduce conversions. Slow loading and delayed interactions create friction, especially for paid traffic. Optimizing images and prioritizing above-the-fold content can help keep visitors engaged.

From a first impression, the branding has a nice premium feel.I’d focus on making the value of the products clearer, building more trust, and giving visitors a stronger reason to complete their first purchase.

You can also use Website Speedy to optimize images and scripts, which can help to improve your site’s overall performance. It is completely optional to use.

Hey @ma.aditi,

I really like your candles! I think the packaging looks cool, and it really does catch the eye. I feel like you need to keep building your social media presence, maybe even a TikTok page, where you show how you make your candles and package them. People love candles, it’s just all about building trust and adding a personal touch to your store. It also depends on how big you want to scale, but if you’re just starting out, you need to get as much exposure as possible. Wishing you luck!
