I have a client that uses Quickbooks and QB-POS. QB-POS is going away in October. Can anyone tell me if Shopify POS will connect to Quickbooks and if so, will it all my client to control his inventory.

There is an app for Shopify made by Intuit, called QuickBooks Online, which can sync the payouts for accounting purposes. However, it doesn’t look like their app supports managing inventory. Depending on the use-case scenario for your client, there’s also third-party apps for Quickbooks available which may offer additional functionalities.
