Will there be an easy setup for Google Analytics 4 before July 2023?

@Shopify_77 are there plans to implement a way to easily setup GA4 before 07/2023? If so, when can we expect to be able to use it?

Hi @annahm thank you for asking the right questions, now millions of users are awaiting to known about the new innovation,

Currently we’ve verify the GA4 account via code part, we have share all information here - https://bit.ly/3RJpvVc

Similar concern here: There doesn’t seem to be any support or assistance yet for Shopify store owners who want to preemptively have GA4 running in parallel with Google UA.

The biggest problem with this is not being able to track checkout pages with GA4 unless you have a Shopify Plus account. This video does a good job explaining the whole thing.

I used Loves Data method to implement GA4. Yes, this method tracks ecommerce purchases. For some reason, GA4 and UA report two order numbers (transactionIDs). I use a order prefix, let’s say it is ABC with my order numbers. Now GA4 and UA report transaction IDs ABC1010 and 1010. Any Idea how to resolve this?

All the best,

There’s not currently a native integration for GA4 with Shopify and Shopify is typically silent on new feature releases.

That doesn’t mean you should wait - GA4 means setting up a fresh account, empty of data. UA is shutting down in July 2023 and if you don’t accurately integrate GA4 with your Shopify store then you’ll be looking at months of manual comparison between the two - and a steep learning curve.

I’m a Shopify consultant and I’ve created an online course called GA4 for eCommerce which covers everything from eCommerce integration and customisation to how to analyse your data effectively in GA4 and - most importantly - how to backup your UA data so you don’t lose it when UA shuts down. www.gaforecommerce.com

Shopify! It would be really useful to comment on the plans for GA4 within Shopify asap!

Google are emailing us all and telling us to upgrade now and we really need some clear direction from you.

We are unable to add to GA4 code to the checkout pages (unless we have Shopify Plus!)
The video linked by Ramon-San is now out of date.

I noticed that in the Google GA4 installation instructions WordPress, Squarespace and Wix are already listed as one click installation partners… But no Shopify.

Hey folks, I was just on with support chat and they directed me here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/reports-and-analytics/google-analytics/google-analytics-4 , Looks like we’ll be able to activate GA4 support by March
