Buying DDP shipping labels

Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) labels are shipping labels that include international duties and import tax. When you use DDP labels to ship your products to international customers, you're taking responsibility for any additional charges that might be applied by the customs authority in your customer's country or region.

Buying DDP labels with shipping labels

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) labels are supported only for specific carriers when purchasing shipping labels through Shopify's carrier accounts. If you collect duties and import taxes at checkout, then you can purchase DDP labels for the following carriers:

If you use any other carrier with Shopify's carrier accounts, then you can't purchase a label for orders where duties have been collected. You need to purchase the label externally or refund the order.

DDP and DAP label support by carrier

For international shipments, carriers support different incoterms for how duties and import taxes are handled. DDP labels include duties at checkout, and DAP (Delivered At Place) labels require customers to pay duties at delivery. Learn more about DDP and DAP incoterms.

Requirements for purchasing DDP shipping labels

Before purchasing DDP labels, ensure that you've completed the tasks in the following checklist:

Activated Collecting the collection of international duties and import tax.

Added Harmonized System (HS) codes and Country of Origin (COO) to your products.

Prepared to create commercial invoices for your shipments.

Updated your shipping policy and notifications.

Set your preferred carriers to carriers and services that support DDP labels.

Optional: Decided whether to include duties and import tax in your product prices and at checkout.

After you set up the collection of duties and import tax, you can buy and print labels in your Shopify admin.

Costs for purchasing DDP shipping labels

The billing and cost adjustments for DDP labels are charged the same way as any other label that's purchased in Shopify, and are displayed in the Bills section of your Billing page. If adjustments are made to the label as a result of the cost of duties and import tax at customs, then the adjustment is displayed as Duties adjustment.
