Considerations for using FedEx with Managed Markets
Review the following consideration before you ship using FedEx:
- FedEx International Connect Plus® supports Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping. With DDP, all duties, taxes, and customs fees are paid upfront, making the delivery process smoother for your customers.
- FedEx packages can't be dropped off at USPS locations. The only shipments that can be delivered to USPS drop-off locations are DHL eCommerce packages.
- FedEx International Connect Plus® doesn't support post office (PO) boxes for origin or destination addresses with Managed Markets. If you need to ship to a PO box, then use DHL eCommerce shipping services.
- The maximum value for a package shipped with FedEx International Connect Plus® is $2,500 USD.
- Depending on the destination, a $7 USD remote area surcharge might apply to your shipment. This is determined by FedEx based on the destination city or postal code, depending on the country. If you're not sure whether a shipment will be subject to this fee, then contact Shopify Support.
Package requirements for FedEx with Managed Markets
FedEx places restrictions on the maximum measurements and weight of shipments. Review the following table to ensure that your orders don't exceed these restrictions.
Oversized packages incur an additional fee of $30 USD. Overweight packages incur an additional fee of $38 USD.
| Measurement | FedEx International Connect Plus® |
|---|---|
| Length | 48 inches |
| Width | 30 inches |
| Length and girth | 105 inches |
| Weight | 55 lbs |
To determine the length and girth of a shipment, add the length, twice the height, and twice the width of the package. For example, a package that's 10 inches long, 20 inches high, and 15 inches wide has a length and girth of 80 inches: (10 + (20 X 2) + (15 X 2) = 80).
Getting your products to FedEx
If you use FedEx with Managed Markets, then you need to drop off your shipment at a FedEx drop-off location or schedule a pickup. You can schedule a pickup with FedEx by telephone or by using the FedEx virtual assistant.
If you have questions regarding your pickup after it's scheduled, then you can contact FedEx for assistance and provide your pickup number.
FedEx pickup considerations
If you have your shipment picked up by FedEx, then review the following considerations before scheduling your pickup:
- Express pickups are available only for shipments under 150 lbs in weight. Shipments over 150 lbs are classified as freight pickups, which might incur additional charges and delays.
- Pickups for FedEx International Connect Plus® shipments must be picked up by an Express driver. If you schedule a pickup and don't specify that you need an Express pickup, then your shipment will be refused or delayed.
- You must provide a valid Managed Markets tracking number for pickup. If you don't provide one, or your tracking number is incorrect, then FedEx charges you for the pickup.
- A $4.00 USD on-call pickup fee applies for shipments that are picked up rather than dropped off at a FedEx drop-off location. This fee is per pickup, not per package. The on-call pickup fee is waived for shippers that already have regularly scheduled pickups.
