Finding retailers in the Shopify Collective sales channel

You can find new retailers to work with and new stores to sell your products on in the Discovery page of your Shopify Collective sales channel.

You can search for specific retailers, or browse for retailers in categories that are relevant to the products that you sell. You can view only Collective retailers that are in the same country as you.

In the Settings page of your Shopify Collective sales channel, you can determine if and how retailers can discover you as a supplier to work with.

You can showcase your best-selling products and your business information with a brand details page that's displayed to eligible retailers.

Discovering new retailers in Shopify Collective

You can search for retailers from the Discovery page. Use the Categories menu to refine the retailers that are displayed based on the types of products that you want to sell. To view other recommended retailers for a particular product category, click View more.

To get more information about a retailer, you can view a retailer's profile page. You can invite a retailer to sell your products, and also view the following details if the retailer has made them available:

  • Links to the retailer's online store and social media profiles
  • The retailer's average product reviews rating, and the number of verified reviews that the rating is based on, accumulated from Shop, Yotpo, Judge.me, Loox, Okendo, or Stamped.io.
  • A brand description about the retailer, and where they're located
  • Links to the retailer's best-selling products

Find and view retailers

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.

  2. Click Discovery.

  3. Use the search field to find or search for particular retailers, or use the Categories drop-down menu to select one or more specific product types.

  4. To find out more about a retailer, click a retailer card, or click a retailer name in the search field's drop-down menu.

  5. Optional: To view a retailer's example products, click a product card, and then click View on store.

  6. Optional: To invite a retailer to sell your products on their store:

    1. Click Invite to sell.
    2. In the Price lists section, click Plus circle Add price lists, and then do any of the following:
      • To create a new price list for the retailer, click Create price list.
      • To add one of more of your existing price lists, select the price list from the menu.
    3. In the Message field, use the placeholder text or add your own personalized message to the retailer.
    4. Click Invite to sell.

A retailer receives your invitation and price list offer by email, and they can accept your invitation to sell your products, or continue the conversation by email. Some retailers might respond faster than others.

After a retailer accepts your invitation, you receive an email confirming that you're connected, and the retailer can begin selling your products on their store.

Getting discovered by retailers in Shopify Collective

Eligible retailers that use Shopify Collective can search for products to sell and invite you to connect with them through your brand details page.

You need to meet the following requirements for your store and products to be discoverable by retailers on Shopify Collective:

To help retailers find your store, ensure that your brand details page that retailers can view is accurate and up-to-date.

You can manage your store's brand settings from the Brand page in your Shopify admin. You can add a logo, your brand colors, a cover image, a slogan and short description, and your store's social media links.

Depending on the information that you make available to retailers, your brand details page can include your typical margin for sales that are made through Shopify Collective, and details about the countries and regions that you ship from.

Retailers can also view your store's average product reviews rating, based on verified customer reviews collected on Shop, and reviews from the third-party apps Loox, Okendo, Judge.me, Yotpo, and Stamped.io.

When a retailer reviews your brand details, your online store, and your products, they can choose to request pricing from you by sending you an invitation to connect with them.

The Bestsellers lists on your brand details page and product pages contain the best-selling products from your entire catalog, and not only the products that you've made available to the Shop sales channel. This lets retailers view the most popular products that represent your brand, and they can inquire about products that they want you to supply.

Public price list products on shopify.com

If you're a United States-based supplier with public price lists, and you have retailer discoverability activated, then your Instant import products might be displayed on shopify.com/source-products to help you drive more sales.

These listings can include the product title, images, price, and reviews, but your retailer margin and pricing tiers aren't featured. When your products are displayed, you might receive an increase in the number of products that are instantly imported by merchants from your public price lists, and an increase in your retailer connections. If you want to remove your products from being displayed on shopify.com/source-products, then you can deactivate your discoverability to retailers on Shopify Collective.

Managing your discoverability to retailers on Shopify Collective

You can turn off retailer invitation emails, stop displaying your product margin, or deactivate your retailer discoverability entirely. If you deactivate your retailer discoverability, then any products from your public price lists don't display as instant import products for retailers.

Turn off retailer invitation emails

If you want to be discoverable by retailers, but you don't want to receive invitations to connect by email, then you can turn off these notifications. You still receive requests to connect in Retailers > To review.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Discovery section, deselect Receive invitations from retailers (recommended).

Turn off your product margin

Retailers that find your brand details page in their Shopify Collective app can view the margin that you typically offer to stores that sell your products.

The percentage margin or percentage margins range that's displayed is based on the lowest and highest margins that you set across your Active price lists. Price lists that are set to draft aren't included in the margin that's displayed to retailers.

Retailers are more likely to request to connect with suppliers when they can view the margin that you typically offer, but you can deactivate this feature to hide your margin from all retailers.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Discovery section, deselect Display your margin range to retailers (recommended).

Deactivate your retailer discoverability

If you no longer want to be discoverable by retailers on Shopify Collective, then you can deactivate the feature.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Discovery section, deactivate the feature by turning the toggle button off.

Adding and managing a Shopify Collective referral page

Another way of getting discovered by retailers is to create a Shopify Collective referral page, and then add it to your storefront. The referral page advises retailers that are interested in selling your products to install Shopify Collective, so that they can then request to connect with you.

A referral page is an automatically-generated Shopify Collective page that you can add to your storefront. You can't customize or edit this page, but the page is branded according to the branding of your online store theme. A referral page can help you find new retailers that you can work with in Shopify Collective.

Retailers that visit your referral page can learn more about Shopify Collective and how it works. Eligible retailers can also install the Shopify Collective app to their stores and start working with your business.

Add the Shopify Collective referral page to your store

You can create a Shopify Collective referral page, and then add it to your store's header menu or footer menu.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Referral page section, activate your referral page by turning the toggle button on.

  4. To copy the URL for your referral page, click the copy icon.

  5. To add the referral page to your store, click the main navigation menu link.

  6. Click Main menu or Footer menu.

  7. Click Add menu item.

  8. In the Label field, enter a name for the link that visitors can click to go to your referral page.

  9. In the Link field, paste the URL that you copied from your Collective settings, and then click the link that displays.

  10. Click Save.

After you add your referral page, go to your online store and make sure that the referral page displays correctly.

Remove the Shopify Collective referral page from your store

If you no longer want to display the Shopify Collective referral page in your store, then you can remove the page.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Collective: Supplier.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Referral page section, deactivate your referral page by turning the toggle button off.

  4. To remove the referral page from your store's navigation, go to the Content > Menus section of your Shopify admin.

  5. Click the menu that you added the referral page to.

  6. Hover over the menu item for the referral page, and then click the trash can icon.

  7. Click Remove.

  8. Click Save.
