Switching between stores

If you have multiple Shopify stores or organizations associated with the same email address, you can use the store switcher to navigate between them after you log in to your Shopify admin. The store switcher is in the top bar, and displays your most recently accessed stores for quick switching. If you need to switch to a store that isn't in the quick-access list, then you can access all your stores in a searchable list without leaving the page. If you have access to the Developer Dashboard or Partner dashboard through your organization, these also appear in the store switcher.

Keep track of multiple stores

The store switcher contains the Shopify stores where you have an account with the same email address. Your most recently accessed stores appear first for quick access.

The store switcher doesn't include any stores that are frozen, paused, or closed. If you re-activate a frozen, paused, or closed store, then that store will be re-added to the list of available stores.

Accessing dashboards from the store switcher

The store switcher can also display links to dashboards that you have access to through your organization. Dashboard links display alongside your organization name in the store switcher:

  • Developer Dashboard — Displays if you have app development permissions in your organization. Use it to manage and test your apps.
  • Partner dashboard — Displays if your organization has a linked Shopify Partner account. Use it to manage your partner business.

If dashboard links aren't visible in the store switcher, then confirm your permissions with your organization admin.

Troubleshooting common issues

The following is a list of some common issues that can occur when you use the store switcher to navigate between your stores:

Why is one of my stores missing?

If your store switcher list is missing a store, then check that your account in that store uses the same email address as your other stores. The store switcher uses your email address to identify the stores where you have accounts.

I can't find a store in the store switcher.

If you have a large number of stores, then use the search field in the full store list to find a specific store. Click your store name, then click View all to open a searchable list of all your stores where you can find a store by name.
