Sidekick uses AI to generate different types of content for your business. You can ask Sidekick to create copy for a blog post, custom marketing materials, or metaobject entries.

You can chat with Sidekick over text or voice mode in natural language.

Creating customer segments with Sidekick

Sidekick lets you create custom customer segments using natural language. Sidekick can create a custom customer segment.

Try a prompt such as: "Create a customer segment for my Canadian customers who subscribe to my marketing emails."

Creating discounts with Sidekick

Sidekick lets you create discount codes and automatic discounts. Sidekick can do the following discount creation tasks:

Create amount off product discounts and amount off order discounts
Create free shipping discounts

Try a prompt such as: "Create an automatic order discount of 10% off for all customers."

Generating images with Sidekick

Sidekick can generate images based on a text prompt you provide. This can be useful for creating hero banner images, marketing materials, or blog post illustrations quickly.

Consider the following when generating images:

Media generation models can sometimes produce unexpected results or poor quality imagery. If an image violates our policies, then you can report it, which will hide it from your session chat.
Until an image is explicitly saved, it isn't added to your store and remains private between you and Sidekick in your chat history. Previewing an image does not save it to your store - only clicking "Save to store" adds it to your store's media library.
If you're uploading reference images, then they must be under 5MB in size. You can upload a maximum of 3 files. Acceptable file formats include JPEG, PNG, and WebP.

Sidekick can do the following tasks related to image generation:

Generate images using natural language prompts, either directly in a chat or in the file editor.
Use reference photos that you upload when generating images.
Let you refine the generated images with further instructions.
Save generated images to your device.

Example prompt: "Generate a hero banner image for my summer sale featuring a beach scene with sunglasses and towels, in a bright and vibrant style."

Generating Shopify Messaging email campaigns with Sidekick

Sidekick can help you to create and edit Shopify Messaging email campaign content. You can use Sidekick for assistance when you’re editing an email campaign that you’ve already started.

Sidekick can do the following tasks related to Shopify Messaging email campaigns:

Generate or edit email text.
Edit the design of your email, such as fonts, colors, and buttons.
Generate images and add them directly to an email.
Recommend or create customer segments to send an email campaign to.

Example prompts: "Help me create a new email campaign for the upcoming holidays", or ”Change all of the buttons in this email to be round.”

Generating text with Sidekick

You can provide a prompt to Sidekick to receive a copy for a variety of applications. Sidekick can assist in tasks such as writing emails, editing store content, and generating blog posts. Refer to Considerations when using automatic text generation.

Sidekick can do the following content generation tasks:

Fill in fields or forms in any page of the Shopify admin, using reference images or direct instructions.
Explain why each generated option might be appropriate
Generate more options beyond the first suggestions it gives you.
Create or edit products, discounts, and collections, based on your direct instructions.
Edit and customize Shopify Messaging marketing campaigns.

When Sidekick has generated content in a field, the field is highlighted in purple so you can identify and review the fields where Sidekick has added content.

Generating metafields and metaobjects with Sidekick

Sidekick can create metaobject and metafield entries. Whether you need help adding a new influencer to your store or updating an inseam metafield for a product, Sidekick can help you speed up the process.

Sidekick can do the following tasks related to metafield and metaobject management:

Update metafield values
Update metaobject entries

Try a prompt such as: "Update my influencer metaobject with a new influencer named Sam.”

Generating reports with Sidekick

Sidekick can create and edit reports based on your prompts in plain language. This feature uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand the context of the current report you've accessed, whether it be a default Shopify report or custom data exploration created by you, and generates a valid ShopifyQL query to match your request.

Display key metrics based on your report data in the chat panel.
Create a new data exploration.
Modify an existing report to save as a new data exploration.

Generating custom workflows in Shopify Flow with Sidekick

Sidekick can create or edit workflows in Shopify Flow based on a description of the workflow that you want. You must have the Shopify Flow app open in your Shopify admin to have Sidekick help you with workflows in Shopify Flow.
