Using the Shopify app on your Apple Watch

You can access your key Shopify business data from your Apple Watch using the Shopify app. You can display your store's key sales, unfulfilled orders, and sessions metrics for quick, at-a-glance checks on your Apple Watch.

Considerations for using the Shopify app on your Apple Watch

Before you use the Shopify app on your Apple Watch, review the following considerations:

  • You must connect your Apple Watch to an iPhone to use the Shopify app on your Apple Watch.
  • To help maintain your Apple Watch's battery life, watch face complications refresh every 15 minutes. Your store data also refreshes when you launch the Shopify app on your Apple Watch, but doesn't update in real time when the app is open.
  • Your Apple Watch requires an internet connection to update and display your store data from the Shopify app and to use Sidekick:
    • Your Apple Watch must be near your iPhone or be on the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone to have an internet connection.
    • If you have an Apple Watch with a separate mobile data connection, then your Apple Watch doesn't need to be near your iPhone.
  • The Shopify app's complications are supported as available widgets in the Apple Watch's Smart Stack.

Set up the Shopify app on your Apple Watch

To use the Shopify app on your Apple Watch, you need to install the Shopify app on your iPhone. When you install the app on your iPhone, it might take a few minutes for the app to become available on the Apple Watch.

The first time you use the Shopify app on your Apple Watch, you need to log in using your account's login credentials.

Steps:

  1. Download and install the Shopify app on the iPhone that's paired with your Apple Watch.
  2. On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
  3. In the list of Available Apps, find the Shopify app and then tap INSTALL to add the app to your Apple Watch.
  4. On your Apple Watch, tap the Shopify app icon to launch the app.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan the QR code on your Apple Watch with your iPhone, and log in to your Shopify account.
  6. Optional: If you have multiple stores, then select the store that you want to access from the app on your Apple Watch.

Home view on your Apple Watch

When you launch the Shopify app on your Apple Watch, your Home view displays the following default metrics:

  • Sessions over time
  • Total sales over time
  • Orders over time
  • Conversion rate over time

Tap the Calendar icon to customize the date range for the data displayed in the app on your Apple Watch.

Apple Watch face complications for the Shopify app

Apple Watch complications are small widgets that display information from apps directly on the watch face. You can add complications from the Shopify app to the watch face of your Apple Watch that let you instantly check on your store without having to open the Shopify app. Complication data refreshes every 15 minutes on your Apple Watch face.

The Shopify app offers the following complications for the Apple Watch:

  • Total Sales, which displays the total sales for a selected store for a selected date range.
  • Sessions, which displays the total number of online store sessions for a selected store for a selected date range.
  • Unfulfilled Orders, which displays the total number of orders that are ready for fulfillment.
  • Combined Metrics, which displays the total sales and the total number of online store sessions for a selected store for a selected date range. This is available only as a rectangular complication.
  • Sidekick, which you can tap to start a voice conversation with Sidekick directly from your watch face. If you have multiple stores, the complication label shows which store Sidekick will answer for.
  • A Shopify button that you can tap to quickly open the Shopify app on your Apple Watch.

Talk to Sidekick on your Apple Watch

You can ask Sidekick questions about your store from your Apple Watch using voice mode. Open Sidekick from the Shopify app on your Apple Watch or from a Sidekick complication on your watch face. If you have multiple stores, then your answers are based on your active store. You can confirm which store is active from the complication label on your watch face.

You can ask Sidekick questions such as:

  • "How many unfulfilled orders do I have?"
  • "What were my total sales today?"
  • "Do I have any low stock products?"
  • "How many returns do I have?"

Steps:

  1. On your Apple Watch, open the Shopify app or tap the Sidekick complication on your watch face.
  2. Tap to start speaking, and then ask your question.
  3. After you ask your question, your answer is spoken aloud, and a text summary is displayed on your watch.

Limitations of Sidekick on Apple Watch

Sidekick on Apple Watch is designed for quick answers. It can't do the following:

  • Navigate to pages in the Shopify admin
  • Make changes to your store, such as editing products or updating settings
  • Generate content or apps
  • Use screen sharing or type messages
