Collibra Data Intelligence Platform

My main use case for Collibra Platform  is to bring key data elements into data governance compliance, which involves identifying them, prioritizing them, defining them, finding owners, identifying data quality specifications, doing data quality monitoring, and finally  lineage.

A specific example of how I use Collibra Platform  for one of those steps is that on a daily basis, I upload data elements or I update data elements via an upload template.

The best features Collibra Platform offers include the business glossary.

What I appreciate about the business glossary is that it is where all of the key data elements are defined, making it easy to find the understanding of where the data is coming from. You simply search for that data element and then you can see its lineage.

Collibra Platform has positively impacted my organization by helping identify quicker when we have data quality issues and their root cause. This has made a difference in saving time, reducing errors, and improving decision-making. Once the data quality issue is resolved, management can trust that data.

I find that Collibra Platform could improve its performance, as it is very slow when you do uploads and when you want to dig into lineage.

Collibra Platform needs to work on its data lineage capabilities to match the solutions of Ab Initio or other major tools that are focused on lineage. It should be performing much better than it is because it is very cumbersome to use.

I have been using Collibra Platform for about 12 years.

My advice for others looking into using Collibra Platform is to get some training and have one-to-one sessions with the community manager to explore the platform and see the functionalities that would be useful for their particular job, as well as have role-specific, targeted training with them.

My main use case for Collibra Platform  is data governance and traceability of data sources.

For governance or traceability in my work, I can provide a specific example: we migrated a couple of databases to the cloud from on-premises. When I need to know what specific piece of information will be delivered, I use the source to track traceability. I go to the beginning and then to the end to see how the lineage works.

Overall, this is the most typical use case for Collibra Platform .

Collibra Platform offers the best features by having all the governance tools in one place. The research tab is very helpful as it provides hints about what I am looking for.

The research tab helps me in my daily work by providing hints about information. For example, I needed to understand the domains of certain databases that I was not even aware of. Now, even if I am not directly related to a domain, I still see hints about information.

All the features of Collibra Platform work in a smooth way. As a data scientist, it is easier for me to navigate, even though I am not a data analyst.

Collibra Platform has positively impacted my organization by saving and reducing costs since I use one platform to track everything.

It has reduced costs and made things safer by providing time savings. Instead of spending more than two hours to perform an analysis, I can now perform the same analysis in ten minutes.

The user experience of Collibra Platform could be better. Even though there is a large research tab, I think it could be more customizable, meaning I could add filters. Currently, it does not have many filters.

The filters in the search tab need improvements, which would be very helpful.

Regarding Collibra Platform's AI capabilities, I would say it is in the beginning phase and could be better. The accuracy and reliability depend a lot on how much information I am trying to search and anchor in my data flow. When it comes to AI capabilities, the information is well annotated, so the model sometimes makes mistakes.

I have been using Collibra Platform for about two years.

The advice I would give to others looking into using Collibra Platform is that every tool has a learning curve. They should pursue it; Collibra Platform is a very well-developed and well-explained platform.

My main use case for Collibra Platform  is data lineage and data traceability, as it has extensive functionalities around those tasks.

Collibra Platform  is particularly powerful for enterprise data governance. Currently, my company is undergoing a migration process between one database and another, so we use Collibra Platform mostly for data governance tracking.

When we need to find equivalences between one data platform and another, we can search among data sets and metadata. We can also assign ownership or stewardship.

Collibra Platform offers an intuitive user interface that allows you to navigate easily even without prior experience. The API functionality for ingesting metadata is also part of the core features.

When I need to register data sets manually, I can input API credentials and create BigQuery  tables, modify schemas, and manage the records of every table through the API. Collibra Platform's APIs are very well documented, which makes the process smooth and motivates me to collaborate more.

Collibra Platform has impacted my organization positively because it provides comprehensive data governance functionalities for enterprises. It centralizes policies, ownership, business definitions, and rules, resulting in fewer inconsistencies and standardized terminology across the organization.

Collibra Platform could be improved by enhancing the user interface with artificial intelligence implementation that could suggest words as I type. Most platforms from other domains already offer this feature, and I think it would be valuable.

Overall artificial intelligence capabilities make a significant difference because they can reduce the time invested in typing.

Regarding the accuracy and reliability of output for Collibra Platform's AI capabilities, there is room for improvement by expanding the number of use cases. The platform is functioning adequately now but could perform better.

I have been working in my current field for over two years.

Collibra Platform is stable, and I have not encountered any errors so far.

In terms of scalability, I would rate it a solid eight, though I am not certain about all the implications since my role is focused on analysis.

I have not personally used customer support, but based on the written documentation, it appears to have gone successfully, though it could still be improved.

Before Collibra Platform, we used Google Spreadsheets or Excel files to track data lineage. It is beneficial now that we are using this automated platform instead.

Even though I cannot estimate the cost, the time saved is significant because we no longer spend time tracking where the data originated. We can go directly to the portal and see the specific source from which the data came.

I did not have to worry about pricing, setup cost, or licensing because my organization provides Collibra Platform as a tool.

I did not evaluate other options before choosing Collibra Platform because I wanted to start with it from the beginning, as it is very convenient.

I recommend that others use Collibra Platform, as it is a platform that combines many functionalities and handles the security aspect thoroughly.

Artificial intelligence is one of the main reasons I continue to use Collibra Platform, and while it could certainly be improved, I encourage the team to maintain this direction for customer satisfaction. I give this platform a rating of nine out of ten.

Collibra Platform  is used for data governance, bridging business and technical data. I used Collibra Platform  to import metadata from GCP  projects by utilizing Collibra import APIs.

Importing metadata from GCP  projects helps to make data accessible for everyone at the company so that they can use this data because they have information about metadata.

Collibra Platform offers features such as Collibra lineage, Collibra sampling, and bridging business objects and technical data, which really stand out to me.

Collibra lineage helps us to understand where the data comes from and is used to understand the lineage of the data. Sampling also helps to get an idea of the data.

Collibra Platform has positively impacted my organization by increasing data usage and helping teams build data products. Faster access and easy accessibility contributed to how data usage increased.

The UI of Collibra Platform can be improved, as can some APIs such as the import API.

Improving the UI and documentation would bring it closer to a perfect score for me, making it more accessible.

My main use case for Collibra Platform  is data cataloging as well as AI governance.

In my day-to-day work, I connect with data sources such as Snowflake  and a variety of data sources like Hive , and then use the metadata to define the data dictionary, while also using Collibra Platform  to define the business glossary and tie it up with the metadata so that any user logged in can understand what the data describes. For AI governance, I have a lifecycle where the user submits a workflow to get approved for their AI use case, and then I use that workflow to analyze the use case and the associated data, completing a data quality check using Great Expectations before approving the use case if there is no risk associated with the data. I use Collibra Platform for both AI governance and data catalog.

Unique to my organization is the data cataloging part and Edge; I use Edge of Collibra Platform to connect to different inbuilt data sources.

The best features Collibra Platform offers include data cataloging and a variety of APIs, allowing me to use Python and REST API to export or import data within Collibra Platform, and there is a lot of documentation available, along with fantastic support from Collibra Platform which helps whenever I encounter issues.

The documentation is clear and helpful, and it is easy to integrate with other tools using Collibra Platform's APIs. For example, I did an integration with Databricks  to Collibra Platform to get all the assets from Collibra Platform, and it was very easy.

It is easy to define the business glossary in bulk with Collibra Platform, as I use Excel export to bulk create business glossaries, making it easy to tag, and the workflow capabilities are excellent, getting assigned to users when the workflow starts and making it easy to manage and track workflows from end to end.

Collibra Platform has positively impacted my organization by removing silos in AI governance, as prior to introducing Collibra Platform's workflow, processes were messy and done in silos; after introducing Collibra Platform, the process is thorough and significantly reduces my organization's risk.

Collibra Platform could be improved regarding data quality, as the rules cannot be defined as easily as in other tools.

The user interface is very good and convenient, with no additional improvements needed.

Onboarding new users to Collibra Platform is easy; even non-technical users can navigate it effectively, as the documentation is sufficient, and users can also attend training sessions through the university for additional support.

Data lineage is easy to track and understand with Collibra Platform because it establishes complex relationships between each hop using an automated tool called Lineage Harvester, which connects with the database and establishes lineage between hops.

Collibra Platform uses SSO  for login and manages access control, providing full access to admins while restricting access for data stewards, data quality analysts, data analysts, and technical stewards, ensuring that everyone has only the required access and there are granular permissions available.

Collibra Platform manages metadata effectively, making it easy to update, search, and maintain metadata across my data sources.

Collibra Platform supports collaboration between different teams or departments through workflows that assign tasks to specific teams or individuals, with automatic reminders sent from Collibra Platform until tasks are completed.

My advice for others looking into using Collibra Platform is that it is excellent for those needing AI governance, data cataloging, and automated data lineage—definitely consider it. I rate this product a ten out of ten.
