Hi there fellow POS users, this request/question is for you.
Are there any other brick and mortar stores out there that wish they could offer store credit through Shopify POS? I used to be able to do this with my old POS and Shopify has started to support Store credit (but unfortunately it is online only).
We currently use the Rise.ai app to offer our customers store credit for returns.
Please let me know your solution (if you have one) and if you wish that Shopify would add Store Credits to the POS. Maybe they’ll listen to us…
This is a very interesting and valid use case. From an app developer standpoint - the current feature set of the Store credit APIs are very much in shambles and feels like an early access thing . We’re building “Dollarback: Store Credits” - in early access right now.
I was thinking of a workaround though - let me know if this might work for you?
Customer has 100$ store credit > At the store they want to redeem it (partially / fully) > On the POS you enter the value to redeem from the user’s credit balance > App generates a unique coupon applicable only to that customer > Order gets placed > App reduces the discounted value from the store credit
It’s a workaround, but should be feasible until they finally bring it to POS as well.
Absolutely agree, Noah! Offering store credit via Shopify POS is a crucial feature for brick-and-mortar retailers. We faced the same challenge and switched to 99minds, which supports store credit across both online and in-store (POS).
It’s been a game changer for handling returns and driving repeat purchases. Would definitely recommend checking it out. Shopify should really consider making this a native feature too.
