¿Scam or phising? Please help me

Hi, I have received a mail of a particular ( …@gmail.com)with the logo of Shopify and subject “Shopify Support” saying that my web have problems with EDN, and Shopify would close my store. He wanted that i talk to an “agency” (another particular with mail …@gmail.com) and they wanted to me to buy a software for solving the problem in my account. Firstly i thought it was real, but i have no paid. Is this phising or scam?

You don’t have to pass any information to email scammers because Shopify would never email you from a gmail.com domain. As far as I know, Shopify will only email you from a shopify.com domain. Any other email except that is most probably a scam and you can ignore them.

I hope this message finds you well.
That email you got is 100% a phishing scam.
Shopify never uses Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.
Do not reply to that email.
If you clicked any links, change your Shopify admin password immediately and enable two-factor authentication.

Hello there @Andres23 Any email account that ends with “Gmail.com” or something similar is not an official one from Shopify so you should always do your best to ignore and disregard any mails from such accounts for safety reasons.

That’s 100% a phishing/scam attempt — good thing you didn’t pay.

Here’s why:

  • Official Shopify support never contacts from Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail accounts. They always use an @shopify.com email domain.

  • Scare tactics like “we’ll close your store” are a common scammer trick to push you into acting fast.

  • Redirecting you to a so-called agency with another personal Gmail is a red flag — Shopify doesn’t outsource support to random “agencies.”

  • Asking you to buy software to fix a supposed issue is a classic scam move. Shopify will never require you to purchase external tools to resolve platform issues.
