Setting up Venmo as a Payment method

Hello,

I am hoping that someone can help me. We are finishing up our online store and we have setup PayPal as a payment method. I noticed that Venmo is also displayed as a payment method, even though there are no Venmo settings in the Shopify payments choices. After a few chats with Shopify tech support, I have learned that when you enable PayPal for a US store, Venmo comes along (as Venmo is owned by PayPal) and it seems that there is no way to turn it off. My questions are:

  1. Would a payment made by a customer using Venmo show in our PayPal account without additional work from us?
  2. If not, what do we need to do to get Venmo payments working? Do we need to create a Venmo business account? If so, how do we link the Venmo account to our Shopify store?

I tried Shopify help and Venmo online help, but without luck.

You shouldn’t need to create a separate account. Once you have one you should able to accept payments for both and they will deposited into the same account.
