Unending Emails

Hi All,

My store is still new ,I’m suddenly receiving emails from people who seem like Shopify experts, asking if my store is active or not.

Is this normal?

Please advise?

Those emails are all scams. Delete and block, ignore

I believe so as well, because when I ask how they found out about the store, none of them have given me a straight answer.

Won’t this be a problem for my store?

I think this is normal people try to sell services to new store just ignore them and you are all good.

Yeah don’t reply. At all. Don’t even open if you can help it. And especially don’t click on any links. If you’re unsure, look at the sender address. Gmail is a dead giveaway. Be careful though. Some will pretend to be from Shopify themselves in an attempt to threaten you into clicking a link, or have long email addresses and have periods in them, making it appear like it’s from shopify. Example: shopify.admin.security@gmail.com and it could get truncated to omit the important gmail

They target new stores, just mark as spam, block, delete. Eventually most will go away.

No problem, real customers will have real questions, and you will see a difference for sure.

This is actually very common for new store owners, and it’s usually not coming from Shopify itself.

What’s happening is that some agencies, freelancers, or “Shopify experts” look for newly created stores and send cold emails offering services like store setup, marketing, SEO, design, etc. They’re basically trying to find potential clients.

A few important things to know:

  • Shopify will not randomly email you asking whether your store is active or not. Official emails from Shopify always come from @shopify.com addresses and are usually related to billing, support, account activity, or something you initiated.
  • Most of these emails are just unsolicited marketing, but you should still be careful. Don’t click unknown links or share store access/details with anyone you don’t trust.
  • You don’t need to reply to them. You can simply ignore them or mark them as spam.

If you ever need professional help for your store, it’s safer to hire someone through official Shopify Experts Marketplace instead of responding to random outreach emails.

Yes, it’s completely normal for new stores. When a Shopify store goes live bots and scraping tools will pick it up and send outreach emails pretending to be “experts” or agencies. Most of the time, it’s again unsolicited marketing or scams trying to sell you services you don’t need.
Consider them spam unless it comes from a verified partner that you actually reached out to. Don’t click links, don’t give them access to your store. If you ask for help later on, stick to vetted Shopify Partners via the official directory, or agencies you can independently verify have a track record.

Absolutely normal, this happens to every new Shopify store.

These aren’t official Shopify experts — they’re freelancers and marketers scraping newly launched stores, sending generic messages just to sell you design, SEO, ads or setup services.

They only ask if your store is active to check if you’re a new merchant they can pitch to.

My advice: just ignore them, don’t reply, don’t click any links, and block the senders. No need to worry, it’s just regular unsolicited outreach.

They are scammers pouring in .

They go way too far to approach you . I also launched my store recently and got bombarded by such emails, so much so the email I received yesterday had my shopify shop deactivation notice ! I really got panicked and asked Claude Ai , to draft me an appropriate reply . I sent back that reply to that sender . But I was still confused that why my shopify is getting deactivated , I further asked Claude Ai , that what could be the reason of this deactivation notice ? And the Claude Ai said tht most probably its fake and scam . Thanks God I didn’t clicked any links in that email but really it was close…

This is completely normal for new stores, but please be careful, these are almost always spam or cold-outreach scams. Bots scrape the platform for new domains to send these automated emails, pretending to be “experts” just to sell services or even steal your account info. Just mark them as spam and delete them; official Shopify emails will always come from a @shopify.com address and will never ask if your store is “active” this way.
