I recently decided to switch from Balance to using my traditional bank account. I linked through Plaid only to find out after the fact about the whole “virtual account number” experience. Seeing the incorrect last 4 naturally caused concern. I reached out to the bank, Shopify support and Plaid. I’ve had zero response from Plaid. The bank states that Plaid issues the VAN to keep info private. I contacted Shopify support. Now my payout are on hold while I await the “security team” to reach out. Had it just been disclosed that a VAN is used, this would be alleviated. There is no way now to change the payout account as I do not know what this virtual number is. Support simply said today “it can take a while” So I guess just keep selling and shipping with hopes one day I’ll get the money that rightfully belongs to me, or close up shop an go elsewhere, again, hoping to eventually get what is being held.
Mind blowing they don’t have some process for this other than this insane chat that gets you absolutely no where.
