Why can't I access the theme code editor on my computer?

Hey, I have done some editing of my theme code in Shopify and everything worked perfect, until I restarted my computer and now I cant access the code editor anymore. I tried reloading the page and still doesn’t work. I tried to access it on my pc and it worked out just fine so i don’t understand the problem. If somebody could help me, it would mean a lot!

Thank you for getting in touch. Could you please translate the error message you are seeing when you try and load the theme’s code editor into English for me? Is the issue present if you try accessing the editor in another browser?

I tried it in safari and it worked. But the error message simply says.

“This page cannot be loaded right now
A technical problem prevents this page from loading. Please reload this page or try again later.”

Hello @eddietaube

Can you try opening your admin using incognito mode to see if this works? If it does, then can you try clearing your cache and repeating the action?

These are just some suggestions to try and resolve this issue, but let me know how you get on, and we can continue to locate what the issue might be.

It worked in incognito! And I already tried resetting my cache and when I did that it worked. But when I tried open the code editor after closing it down I got the same problem again.

I also checked my console to see what requests I was getting and I saw some 429 error codes when loading som files. Is it possible that I have been rate limited?

Hi @eddietaube ,

I’m glad to hear that you were able to access the editor while in Incognito, and when you had cleared your cache. Typically, 429 error codes appear when merchants have been testing the checkout or viewing their shipping rates at checkout frequently, but they shouldn’t be appearing when accessing the editor.

If the issue continues, I’d recommend contacting our support team and asking them to look into this for you. It may require some investigation from our technical department.
